Hi, all. It's Joanna here from Arcadian Home blog, a fabulous place to find lots of interior design inspiration like decorative accessories and lovely lighting fixtures from fantastical chandeliers to modern pendant lights. I’m so happy to be here at Mon Reve and Co. to share a visual tour of little cottages in the backyard—idyllic places we all dream of when life gets hectic and we long to escape.
To inspire your daydreams, I’ve pulled together eight images of little garden getaways. From quirky looks to English country house style—they all entice us to enter and enjoy a few hours in a pretend world of living for the moment, where cares and responsibilities are far far away. Enjoy!
Rustic on the outside with comfort on the inside, this little house offers a place to curl up with a good book for the afternoon or for an overnight getaway.
Pink and altogether shabby chic, this little cottage is surrounded by beautiful blooms. With pink wire outdoor furniture, it's a perfect spot for lunch or afternoon tea.
A bit more traditional, this little house shines with candlelight after dark. I would love to see a glass pendant light, perhaps one with a Moroccan vibe, hanging from the ceiling.
What's not to love about this beauty? The colors are so pretty and the detailing is both beautiful and interesting. The glimpse of wrought iron furniture within has me wishing for a better look.
With an overgrown country feel, this little cottage is dressed up with vivid pink flower boxes. It's reminiscent of a visit to Grandmother's farm—a great way to bring a little country to a backyard in the city.
Now for a look inside a white shabby chic cottage where the focal point is a lovely mounted rescued vintage wallpaper. Windows are draped in fine white tulle and the daybed is dressed all-white feminine bedding. Every feminine cottage in the back yard needs glamorous pendant lighting—this one in the form of a crystal chandelier.
With a somewhat more masculine feel, this glass room is surrounded by lush greenery. What a wonderfully inviting retreat this is.
In scale and architecture, this two story design is the most upscale of the buildings on our backyard cottage tour today. What a charming English garden look this one has. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
