Garden Getaways- Guest Post by Arcadian Home Blog

Hi, all. It's Joanna here from Arcadian Home blog, a fabulous place to find lots of interior design inspiration like decorative accessories and lovely lighting fixtures from fantastical chandeliers to modern pendant lights. I’m so happy to be here at Mon Reve and Co. to share a visual tour of little cottages in the backyard—idyllic places we all dream of when life gets hectic and we long to escape. To inspire your daydreams, I’ve pulled together eight images of little garden getaways. From quirky looks to English country house style—they all entice us to enter and enjoy a few hours in a pretend world of living for the moment, where cares and responsibilities are far far away. Enjoy!

Garden Cottage

Rustic on the outside with comfort on the inside, this little house offers a place to curl up with a good book for the afternoon or for an overnight getaway.

Garden Cottage

Pink and altogether shabby chic, this little cottage is surrounded by beautiful blooms. With pink wire outdoor furniture, it's a perfect spot for lunch or afternoon tea.

Garden Cottage

A bit more traditional, this little house shines with candlelight after dark. I would love to see a glass pendant light, perhaps one with a Moroccan vibe, hanging from the ceiling.

Garden Cottage

What's not to love about this beauty? The colors are so pretty and the detailing is both beautiful and interesting. The glimpse of wrought iron furniture within has me wishing for a better look.

Garden Cottage

With an overgrown country feel, this little cottage is dressed up with vivid pink flower boxes. It's reminiscent of a visit to Grandmother's farm—a great way to bring a little country to a backyard in the city.

Garden Cottage

Now for a look inside a white shabby chic cottage where the focal point is a lovely mounted rescued vintage wallpaper. Windows are draped in fine white tulle and the daybed is dressed all-white feminine bedding. Every feminine cottage in the back yard needs glamorous pendant lighting—this one in the form of a crystal chandelier.

Garden Cottage

With a somewhat more masculine feel, this glass room is surrounded by lush greenery. What a wonderfully inviting retreat this is.
Garden Cottage

In scale and architecture, this two story design is the most upscale of the buildings on our backyard cottage tour today. What a charming English garden look this one has. What I wore- Sanibel Island Pt. 1

Jacket- Vintage, Dress- Hurley, Necklace- Free People, Jeans- Zara

In January I took a mini weekend vacation with my parents to Sanibel Island. The weather was still a little chilly so I opted for jeans and a jacket on the beach. (I did other beach goers a service by not wearing shorts and blinding them with my pasty, albino legs). My mom found this vintage camo jacket for me in Mt. Dora and the dress I picked up at the local TJ Maxx. Sanibel Island was beautiful and it was a nice to break out the fishing rods :)

For The Love of Stripes

Stripes are a classic, versatile, and timeless print. They give you that nautical, preppy look, but paired with jeans and a fedora and you have an effortless tomboy ensemble.  Wear alone, or mix with other patterns and prints (stripes and florals). Stripes are in forever.

The Boyfriend

Images via Pinterest

The Boyfriend Jean is coming back in a big way! This trend is so easy and effortless to wear, and you can dress it up or down. For a daytime look try them with a pair of ankle boots, basic or graphic tee, and a fedora. Transition them into an evening look with a blazer, pair of heels, and clutch. Voile! So easy! I personally like my boyfriend jeans with rips and tears, the more the better. My favorite pair is by Lucky Brand and I will wear them until they fall apart!

If the hat fits

I am on a quest to find the perfect wide brimmed moderately priced fedora! Love the new Saint Laurent s/s 2013 campaign...killed it!! A hat can be worn with almost any outfit and is a great accessory not only for bad/lazy hair days, but is so effortless and cool.
